KITING IN NELSON

Nelson is a great spot for kiting. We are blessed with a reliable and smooth sea breeze that blows cross-shore at the safe and shallow waters of Atawhai Inlet and on-shore to the main beach at Tahunanui.

Tahuna, as itís known by the locals, has the added advantage of a deep-water channel running alongside the end of the beach, which means on an outgoing tide we can get riding in as little as 8 knots of wind. Itís a perfect place to learn, to improve, and to rip it up and entertain the crowds on the beach.

Further a-field, the region boast some spectacular riding in awesome scenery at spots like Marahau, Pohara and Paturau in Golden Bay and, one of our favourites, 9-mile Beach on the West Coast.

As with any spot, it is best to check with the locals before going out, so you can get the low-down on the conditions and any hazards etc. Weíre happy to fill you in on where to ride once you get to town, so look us up.
